In a significant move to bolster energy sector cooperation, the foreign ministers of Algeria and Oman recently convened to explore new investment opportunities in energy, renewables, and petrochemicals. Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf and his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in these strategic sectors.
During the session, Algeria's Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, held talks with representatives from Abraj Energy Services, a prominent Omani company, to discuss enhanced cooperation across multiple domains. These discussions encompassed exploration and production, petrochemicals, crude oil marketing, LNG, and emerging renewable energy technologies, including green hydrogen.
Highlighting the importance of this collaboration, Abraj Energy Services had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Algeria's state-owned Sonatrach in April. This MOU targets oil and gas industry cooperation, emphasizing exploration, development, and well maintenance, laying a strong foundation for future joint ventures.
This renewed focus on energy collaboration underscores both nations' commitment to leveraging their resources and expertise to drive mutual growth and sustainability in the energy sector. As the global energy landscape evolves, such partnerships are crucial in promoting sustainable development and ensuring energy security.
