Lager's major acquisition in Serbia's wind Energy sector

Lager, a prominent company based in Posušje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has recently acquired an 85% stake in Serbia’s Snaga Istoka wind farm project. This acquisition marks a significant advancement in the region’s Renewable Energy landscape, reflecting Lager's strategic move towards sustainable Energy solutions.

Significant stake and project details

The Snaga Istoka wind farm, with an impressive capacity of 300 MW, is one of the largest wind Energy projects in Serbia. Previously, the project was equally owned by Dejan Vuksanović and Igor Živković, who now retain 7.5% each. The Serbian Business Registers Agency confirmed these changes in ownership. This project is crucial for Serbia’s Renewable Energy infrastructure, aligning with national Energy goals.

Progress towards grid connection

Currently, Snaga Istoka is in the process of obtaining connection approval from Serbia’s transmission system operator, Elektromreža Srbije (EMS). This approval is essential for integrating the wind farm into the national grid. The project is one of 51 that have met the initial conditions for concluding an agreement on the preparation of a connection study, a necessary step under the new regulation designed to filter out speculative investments.

Regional impact and future developments

The Snaga Istoka wind farm will be located in the City of Bor, spanning almost 2,700 hectares, primarily covered by forests. The project will feature 41 wind generators, each with a capacity of 7.2 MW. This development will significantly contribute to the local economy and the overall Renewable Energy capacity in the Balkans.

Lager's growing Renewable portfolio

Lager’s acquisition of Snaga Istoka is part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in the Renewable Energy sector. The company has previously built the Krš-Pađene wind farm in Croatia, with a capacity of 142 MW, and is currently developing additional projects in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Lager’s goal is to become a leading producer of Renewable electricity, manufacture wind farm equipment, and collaborate with global manufacturers to build power plants.
