In an exhilarating leap towards a sustainable future, Chariot, an Africa-focused transitional energy group, has proudly announced the completion of a comprehensive feasibility study for Project Nour, a pioneering green hydrogen project situated in the heart of Mauritania.

🔍The study, a testament to the project's viability and scale, has been meticulously submitted to the Mauritanian government, marking a pivotal moment in the development process. Project Nour's ambitious plan reveals an installed electrolysis capacity of a staggering 10 GW, with an initial phase targeting 3 GW of renewable capacity and 1.6 GW electrolysis capacity, poised to produce 150 kt of green hydrogen annually.

Mauritania's Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Energy, Nani Chrougha, voiced his aspirations, stating, “Our aim is to be the largest producer and exporter of hydrogen on the African continent, and we believe Project Nour could support this objective.” This venture not only aims at enhancing domestic green steel production but also envisions boosting the export of green ammonia, leveraging Mauritania's strategic proximity to Europe and the existence of a deep-sea port in Nouadhibou to solidify its stance in international markets.

Laurent Coche, CEO of Chariot Green Hydrogen, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Project Nour's potential to significantly impact both domestic and international fronts as a key producer.🌱
