President - Cámara Minera de Chile

Dr. Manuel Viera is President and Founder of the Cámara Minera de Chile and President of the Chilean Chapter of the World Mining Congress. He is also Founder and CEO of the Metaproject Group, a network of companies specialising in mining consulting, project development, and strategic advisory. A Mining Civil Engineer from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Dr. Viera holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Chile and a PhD in Finance and Mining Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He has further specialised in project evaluation at Imperial College London. With extensive experience as an international consultant, Dr. Viera focuses on mining economics, economic engineering, risk management, and real options. He is also a Qualified Person in the certification of mineral resources. Throughout his career, he has held executive roles and board positions within mining companies, contributing to the development, evaluation, and optimisation of mining projects across different jurisdictions. Recognised as a leading voice in the mining sector, Dr. Viera actively promotes innovation, strategic thinking, and the long-term development of the mining industry, including emerging areas such as astromining through his role as President of the Chilean Institute of Astromining.
