OCP Group has reached an important milestone in its ongoing transformation towards low-carbon, locally produced energy, reinforcing its role as a leading industrial player committed to sustainable growth in Morocco and beyond.
The first phase of the PV Mines Program is now fully operational, with more than 200 MWp of solar capacity commissioned across the strategic mining sites of Benguerir and Khouribga (Foum Tizi and Oulad Farès). This rollout includes the largest PV solar plant currently in operation in Morocco, symbolizing a new scale of ambition for the country’s renewable energy deployment and setting a benchmark for large industrial decarbonization projects in the region.
This new solar capacity will contribute to a progressive reduction in the carbon footprint of OCP’s mining activities, while improving energy independence through locally generated power. By anchoring its energy strategy in solar, OCP is aligning operational reliability, cost competitiveness, and climate responsibility.
As EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management), JESA has played a central role in bringing this phase of the PV Mines Program to life. The company successfully delivered 202 MWp of solar capacity, overseeing the entire value chain from detailed engineering studies to procurement and construction management.
A key pillar of this program is its strong focus on local integration. JESA carried out this phase in close collaboration with Moroccan companies, ensuring significant local participation at every stage of the project. This approach has:
By prioritizing local content and partnerships, the program is contributing not only to cleaner power, but also to a more resilient and competitive industrial base in Morocco.
The PV Mines Program is more than a collection of solar plants. It is a strategic platform for:
This milestone illustrates how energy transition, when thoughtfully designed, can simultaneously address climate challenges, industrial performance, and local economic development.
