In a significant move toward sustainable energy, Tunisia has unveiled Project B, a groundbreaking initiative to construct a solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in the town of Feriana. Funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with an investment of EUR 3.9 million, this project marks a pivotal step in the country's journey towards diversifying its energy sources and minimizing its dependency on fossil fuels.

Project B is set to become a beacon of Tunisia's commitment to clean energy, with a capacity to produce 10MW of solar power. This initiative not only underscores Tunisia's dedication to a low-carbon future but also aligns with its strategic goals for renewable energy expansion and environmental sustainability.

The involvement of Qair Solar as the driving force behind this initiative highlights the collaborative efforts between the Tunisian government and private sector players to foster a green economy. This project, categorized as Environmental Category B, indicates a thoughtful approach to environmental conservation and sustainability, aiming for minimal ecological impact.

A cornerstone of Project B is its dual focus on contributing to the nation's renewable energy targets and stimulating economic growth within the region. The project promises to create job opportunities, thereby supporting local communities and contributing to the broader goal of sustainable development.

Through comprehensive environmental and social due diligence, conducted by independent consultants, Project B has been evaluated as both feasible and environmentally responsible. This thorough assessment ensures that the project adheres to high standards of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The EBRD's financing of Project B is a testament to its commitment to supporting Tunisia's green transition. Offering favorable terms and conditions beyond what is available from local commercial sources, the EBRD demonstrates its role as a key player in promoting sustainable development and private investment in the renewable energy sector.

As Tunisia takes this bold step forward with Project B, it sets a precedent for renewable energy initiatives in the region, highlighting the critical role of international cooperation and financial support in achieving a sustainable and prosperous future.
