Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba, recently visited the Herradura Wind Farm in Las Tunas to oversee the progress of this significant project. Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Díaz-Canel received updates on the construction and installation of 34 wind turbines, which will collectively generate 51 MW of power.
During the visit, Carlos Arias Solís, the director of the Las Tunas Electric Company, briefed the President on the project's scope, including the collaboration with a Chinese firm. President Díaz-Canel emphasized the importance of quickly installing the 22 wind turbines already in the country and called for the acceleration of construction efforts, as well as the preparation of transmission networks and substations.
This wind energy project is one of Cuba's largest investments in renewable energy, a point highlighted by the Head of State, who reiterated the need for swift completion in light of the country's current challenges.
