Uganda, 31 May, 2024 (The Net-Zero Circle) - TotalEnergies has announced a call for bids for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to develop a 15MW ground-mounted solar power plant near Lake Albert in Uganda. This project is a significant step towards increasing Uganda’s renewable energy capacity, adding to the 95MW of solar power installed by the end of 2023. The solar plant will support the Tilenga oil production project, which comprises six oil fields in western Uganda.
Interested contractors are invited to submit prequalification requests via email by June 7, 2024. This turnkey installation aims to reinforce the energy supply for oil activities in the region, further integrating renewable energy into Uganda's energy mix.
Uganda’s commitment to renewable energy was highlighted earlier this year when the Ministry of Water and Environment launched the Expanding Electricity Access Project, a five-year initiative to build 40 solar energy systems across the country. TotalEnergies' new project is a crucial part of this larger push to enhance the nation’s renewable energy infrastructure.
