Frank Dinter, currently serving as the General Manager of Fraunhofer Chile Research and Director of the Center for Solar Energy Technologies (FCR-CSET), as well as President of the Association CSP in Chile, brings a wealth of experience in solar energy innovation and industry development. With a tenure spanning over two years, Frank has been instrumental in steering Fraunhofer Chile Research towards achieving its overarching objective of fostering solar energy innovation for widespread implementation across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors in Chile. Prior to his current roles, Frank held a distinguished position as a Professor of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) at Stellenbosch University for a decade, from June 2013 to June 2023. During this time, he made significant contributions to solar energy research and development, notably as the Eskom Chair in CSP and as a member of the Solar Thermal Research Group (STERG) at the University of Stellenbosch. Frank's expertise extends to industry leadership, demonstrated during his tenure as the Head of Solar Energy at RWE Innogy GmbH, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company's solar energy strategy from August 2008 to May 2013. Additionally, his experience as the Managing Director of Marquesado Solar S.L., overseeing the construction and operation of the 50 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant "Andasol 3" in Andalucia, Spain, further underscores his proficiency in project management and technical leadership within the solar energy sector. Throughout his career, Frank Dinter has been dedicated to advancing solar energy technologies and driving innovation to accelerate the transition towards sustainable energy solutions. His leadership at Fraunhofer Chile Research and extensive background in solar energy research, industry collaboration, and project management continue to shape the renewable energy landscape in Chile and beyond.
