With over 35 years of professional experience, Mario has a demonstrated history of working in the Mining & Metals and Energy industries, holding managerial and C-level positions. Currently, he serves as Project Director, overseeing the development and implementation of a large green hydrogen and ammonia project in the Magallanes region in Chile. Throughout his career, he has taken on responsibilities in business development, project management, country management, and global directorship within the copper and energy sectors. Mario has led large teams of professionals in engineering and construction companies, as well as in the R&D sector, driving projects in the EPC/EPCM domain. His experience includes working on the owner’s side for various power generation and infrastructure projects and acting as General Manager for Codelco Tech, the R&D subsidiary of Codelco. He has held various global positions, such as Global Director for Renewable Power at Hatch, Global Copper Business Development Manager at Bechtel, and Country Manager in Peru for Hatch. Additionally, he has worked as a Project Manager and consultant for projects in countries such as Egypt, Bolivia, Brazil, and Serbia. Flexible and open to new challenges, Mario is a team leader with a proven ability to foster teamwork and support others' growth. He is results-oriented while maintaining a healthy work-life balance and is always willing to think outside the box. He is open to relocating worldwide if the challenge aligns with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, he has developed a strong capability to operate in diverse environments and cultures, bridging Latin and Anglo-Saxon cultures in business globally. He enjoys mentoring younger engineers, sharing knowledge, and teaching, which has led him to work as a professor at Universidad del Desarrollo for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of business management, innovation, and project management.
