Santiago Montt is an independent consultant and attorney with over 15 years of experience in the mining industry. He most recently served as CEO of Los Andes Copper Ltd., where he led the development and strategic positioning of one of Chile’s key copper projects. Prior to this, he held the role of Chief Operating Officer at the company, contributing to its operational and corporate advancement. Earlier in his career, Santiago spent over a decade at BHP, where he served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Minerals Americas, leading stakeholder engagement, regulatory strategy, and external relations across the region. He also held senior legal roles within the company, including Vice President Legal in Australia and Vice President Regulatory & Litigation Legal in Brazil, building extensive experience in complex regulatory and cross-jurisdictional environments. Santiago holds an LLM and a Doctor of Juridical Science (JSD) from Yale University, as well as a Master in Public Policy (MPP) from Princeton University. Recognised for his strong legal, strategic, and operational expertise, he brings a unique perspective at the intersection of mining, regulation, and corporate leadership, supporting the advancement of complex projects across Latin America.
