AMEA Power, a renewable energy developer based in Dubai, has successfully commissioned a 26.6-MW solar farm in Burkina Faso's Mouhoun Province. This new facility, located in the village of Zina, will generate sufficient clean energy to cater to the annual needs of over 43,000 individuals, significantly reducing the region's reliance on fossil fuels. The solar farm is expected to cut down carbon dioxide emissions by 13,200 tonnes each year, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.
The project received financial backing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the IFC-Canada Climate Change Program, and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, highlighting the collaborative efforts in promoting sustainable energy solutions in Africa.
Since its inception in 2016, AMEA Power has been at the forefront of renewable energy development, with over 1.6 GW of operational and near-completion projects. The company also has an extensive project pipeline exceeding 6 GW, covering 20 countries. This latest achievement in Burkina Faso highlights AMEA Power’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint and supporting sustainable development initiatives worldwide.
