Tarik Moufaddal elected President of Cluster ENR Maroc, signaling a new phase for Morocco’s energy transition

Tarik Moufaddal, CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), has been elected President of Cluster ENR Maroc, the country’s flagship renewable energy network, during the cluster’s Elective General Assembly held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Casablanca.

Bringing together more than 150 members and institutional partners, including representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the assembly also renewed the cluster’s board of directors. The new council now includes 22 members spanning major companies, innovative SMEs, professional federations, universities, research centers, and financial institutions reflecting both continuity and a broadened mandate for impact.

Speaking following his election, Moufaddal underscored a strategic focus on emergent technologies that can accelerate Morocco’s industrial decarbonization and competitiveness. “Our ambition is clear: to make renewable energy a lever for industrialization, competitiveness, and territorial development creating lasting value for the national economy and regions,” he said, citing batteries, energy storage, and green hydrogen as priority frontiers.

Government leaders welcomed the governance renewal as a catalyst for Morocco’s energy goals. Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour hailed the cluster’s role as a platform for innovation and industrial anchoring, calling for deeper integration along strategic value chains and stronger positioning in technologies of the future. Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Minister Leila Benali emphasized Cluster ENR’s contribution to affordability and competitiveness through local supply development, innovation, and skills key to sustainable job creation.

Founded in 2014 with the mission to catalyze innovation and industrialization in renewables, Cluster ENR Maroc has grown into a central hub for the green economy. The organization today unites over 300 members across the value chain and reports:

  • 800 startups supported via its green incubator
  • 100 collaborative projects across solar, wind, energy efficiency, and smart grids
  • 2,500 professionals trained
  • 750 green jobs created and 300 local income-generating initiatives enabled

With Moufaddal at the helm and an expanded board in place, the cluster aims to accelerate Morocco’s trajectory toward a competitive, low‑carbon economy mobilizing industry, finance, academia, and innovators to scale renewable deployment, strengthen local content, and advance technology leadership.
